Stephen Fry gehörte ja schon immer zu meinen Oberhelden. Entsprechend war ich gespannt auf, was er unter der Rubrik What I wish I’d known when I was 18 zu sagen hat (Video-Interview von Peter Samuelson). Hat allerhand bemerkenswertes darunter, aber der Schluss fand ich so grandios dass ich Ihn gleich transkribieren musste:

I suppose the thing that I most would like to have known or be reassured about, is that in the world, what counts more than talent, what counts more than energy or concentration or commitment or anything else, is kindness. And the more in the world you encounter kindness, and cheerfulness, which is kind of its amiable uncle or aunt, the more, just the better the world always is. And all the big words, justice, truth, are dwarfed by the greatness of kindness.
